Written by David Adjmi
Original Songs by Will Butler

One band. One album that could change everything… if it doesn’t destroy them first.
California. 1976. A band on the verge of a breakthrough retreats to a recording studio to make the album that could define a generation and make rock’n’roll history. But ambition comes at a cost: egos, rivalry and fractured relationships all threaten to destroy the very thing they’re trying to create. Over weeks that blur into months, they chase the perfect take – and each other.
David Adjmi wrote this ‘epic canvas rendered in hyper-intimate detail’ (The New York Times) over a decade, and the now critically acclaimed fly-on-the-wall portrait of creativity and obsession is the most-nominated play in Tony Award history.
Thi highly-acclaimed Broadway hit with original score by Grammy Award-winning musician Will Butler, formerly of indie rock giants Arcade Fire, boasts an ensemble cast of seven actor-musicians catapulted back toan unsurpassed era of vinyl and velour.
After winning hearts in London and New York, QTC’s Artistic Director Daniel Evans leads Queensland’s turn at this live musical experience about the soaring highs and spiralling lows of pursuing greatness that Variety called “theatrical solid gold’ and Rolling Stone declared “an absolute triumph.” This is Event Theatre that is not to be missed.
