Fat Freddy’s Drop

Fat Freddy’s Drop celebrates 21st Anniversary Tour

Get ready for a euphoric, diaphragm-wrecking night of genre-bending sounds as Aotearoa’s Fat Freddy’s Drop bring their legendary live show to On the Banks.

The resolutely independent band formed in 1999, emerging from Wellington’s underground dance music scene into a genre-bending juggernaut who regularly sell out performances across UK, Europe, Australia and at home. Live, Freddy’s musical alchemy of reggae, dub, soul, techno and jazz is a raucously joyful experience.

Doing it for the love of music, Fat Freddy’s Drop Based On A True Story 21st Anniversary Tour 2026 is the band’s first return to the stage following the sudden death of Freddy’s chief Chris ‘MU’ Faiumu in 2025.

“We want to pay tribute to the music, to MU and the band he established. And, of course, to play to our fans around the world who have supported us through everything.” Scott Towers aka Chopper Reeds

This year, the band were recognised as an Aotearoa Charts Icon 2026 by Recorded Music NZ, acknowledging their success across the Official Aotearoa Music Charts.

Sydney-based seven-piece dub-fusion outfit SUB-TRIBE will join Fat Freddy’s Drop for the night. Blending deep bass with reggae, blues, jazz-hop, dancehall, jungle, and drum and bass, SUB-TRIBE have built a reputation for high-energy live shows and feel-good vibes.

Catch Fat Freddy’s Drop and SUB-TRIBE in Brisbane for a huge night of unmistakable grooves, live music and dancing at On the Banks.
