Pull up a chair, grab a coffee and dive into a morning of big ideas and vibrant conversations. The Science Social Meetup is a Brisbane-born, community-led event where science enthusiasts, researchers, students, educators, communicators and curious locals come together over brunch to share perspectives and sharpen their science communication skills. It’s all about bridging the gap between scientists and the public through fun, engaging activities and genuine dialogue.

This interactive session is packed with workshop-style activities, including quick icebreakers, games like “Sci-Fi or Sci-Fact?”, creative challenges to explain real science in quirky formats and guided mini-discussions on cutting-edge topics and sweeping scientific questions. Expect laughter, learning and the exchange of fresh ideas that will leave you inspired to talk about science in new ways.

This Digital Detox experience invites participants to power down their devices and connect through real-world conversations and shared curiosity.
