Digital Detox: Wildlife in the City with Professor Catherine Pickering

Join Professor Catherine Pickering, an expert in human-nature interactions, and other Griffith University staff on a unique, science-based walk through Toohey Forest, designed for nature lovers of all ages.

This walking tour of one of Brisbane's much-loved city nature reserves offers the perfect opportunity to unplug from digital devices and fully connect with the natural world. As you stroll along paved trails, Professor Pickering will share her expert knowledge of the forest and how it benefits us, from native trees to fascinating wildlife, enriching your understanding of this beautiful environment.

The walk is suitable for all fitness levels, with accessible paths available. Remember to dress comfortably for the outdoors—wear closed shoes, sun-safe clothing, a hat and bring a water bottle.

Leave your devices behind, bring your curiosity and enjoy a memorable journey where you’ll learn, explore, and connect with nature under the guidance of true experts.

Digital Detox features a suite of curated nature walks and wildlife experiences hosted by scientists, researchers and ecological experts all over Brisbane. Attendees will receive a hand-made sustainable phone bag by local artist, Norton Fredericks at the outset of each guided experience to encourage disconnection from their digital devices and reconnection with nature.

Digital Detox is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
