Ensemble Q Grand Septet
Indulge in a captivating journey through the rich tapestry of chamber music and in particular, the septet formation, blending timeless classics with contemporary innovation. Beginning with Antonín Dvořák’s Bagatelles, arranged by Trish Dean for septet, which transforms the composer’s folk-inspired miniatures into a vibrant ensemble showcase. Ernő Dohnányi’s Serenade for String Trio follows, blending Hungarian charm with fiery virtuosity and showcasing the combined talents of Adam Chalabi, Christopher Moore and Trish Dean.
Ensemble Q are delighted to introduce the world premiere of a new work by Ensemble Q 2025 Composer in Residence, Melody Eötvös, whose imaginative compositions consistently bring a new and exciting voice to Australian chamber music. The program concludes with the Swedish romantic period composer Franz Berwald’s Grand Septet, an exuberant and lyrical gem that needs a much larger place in the masterpiece category of chamber music.
