A Morning in France
Hear the saxophone as you’ve never heard it before, as soloist Nick Russionello joins forces with Umberto Clerici for this selection of musical vignettes. From jazz-influenced joy to moments of enchanting lyricism, this Music on Sundays performance will showcase the unparalleled versatility of this much-loved instrument. Debussy’s Rhapsody features the saxophone as alluring, mysterious soloist, with snaking harmonies and impressionist colours. Ravel, too, thought the saxophone was the perfect haunting addition to his orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Other concert highlights include Gershwin’s bustling An American in Paris – a postcard from a vibrant city, and Satie’s dreamy Gymnopédies, a true moment of serenity. This concert has it all, and we know you’ll love it.
