Imagination Takes Flight
Close your eyes. Prepare to be transported worlds away from the Concert Hall, as dreams and stories unfurl in spellbinding musical moments. Magic shimmers in the fluttering passages of Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, before John Williams’ music from Harry Potter whisks you away into the realm of witches and wizards. Stravinsky’s radiant Firebird Suite will erupt with a kaleidoscope of orchestral colour. At the heart of this concert is Peter Sculthorpe’s Kakadu – a vivid reflection on the changing of seasons, and the powerful cycle of life and death so integral to the land. Didgeridoo virtuoso William Barton will breathe rhythm and life into this now iconic Australian work.
