In the year since it became fully operational, the James Webb Space Telescope has provided us with stunning new images of the cosmos, and has challenged and amplified what we think we know about the universe’s formation and development.  For example, James Webb Space Telescope has provided important new clues as to how supermassive black holes may be formed. The James Webb Space Telescope is also providing unprecedented images of the universe as far back in time as it has ever been possible to go, capturing light from some of the first galaxies to form after the Big Bang. And the James Webb Space Telescope has helped us zero in on some planets that have the potential to harbour life, while eliminating many others that likely do not.

Nobel Laureate John Mather is NASA’s top scientist on the James Webb Space Telescope. He’s spent over a quarter century taking the project from conception to reality, and joins Brian Greene live from New York for a conversation about the wonders that the James Webb Space Telescope is revealing. Other top scientists who are using the James Webb Space Telescope to make astonishing, boundary-pushing discoveries will join Brian onstage to share their discoveries.
