In a world of grand romantic gestures and online ghosting, we’ve all, at one point or another, experienced the feelings of falling in love or struggling through unrequited desire as we navigate our way through the complexities of relationships.

Celebrated baritone and Helpmann Award winner Michael Honeyman and esteemed pianist Simon Kenway have assembled a heartfelt montage of song snippets from early 20th century queer composers and operatic repertoire viewed through a queer lens that showcases all that is good (and not so good) in romance.

Featuring song cycles from Benjamin Britten’s Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo and Karol Szymanowski’s The Love Songs of Hafiz alongside Ned Rorem’s art songs of Walt Whitman poems, Honeyman draws inspiration from themes of love, intimacy and even Parisian social life!

This is your opportunity to experience Michael Honeyman’s extraordinary talent up close and in person in the OQ Studio before he hits the QPAC stage for Opera Australia’s AIDA where he is set to revive his renowned role as Amonasro.
