Speakers
Dr Jon Prangnell, a Reader in Historical Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the School of Social Science, The University of Queensland, where he is also Deputy Head of School and Chief Examiner. Dr Prangnell presents a fascinating insight into the historical archaeology of the development of southeast Queensland from the earliest convict times through to the middle of the twentieth century. He also examines the role various excavations have played in his own career and the development of his broader understandings of the heritage and archaeology of Ipswich and surrounds.
Lincoln Morse, Assistant Collection Manager for the Archaeology collection at Queensland Museum. Lincoln will showcase the process behind accurately replicating museum objects using accessible and cost-effective methods and discuss the implications of the technology in a museum setting. Using examples from the Queensland Museum archaeology collection as well as other international institutions, you’ll discover how this cutting-edge technology is revolutionizing the museum experience by allowing us to recreate historical and archaeological artefacts in exquisite detail.
