London-based Australian pianist Jayson Gillham has emerged as one of the finest pianists of his generation. He has given numerous recitals at the Wigmore Hall and performed with leading conductors and orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Halle Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and the major Australian orchestras. Jayson is an exclusive ABC Classics recording artist.

The first half of the recital comprises a series of Bach transcriptions including the beautiful Bach/Gounod Ave Maria and the Bach/Hess Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, made famous by the recitials Hess and friends performed in London’s National Gallery throughout the Second World War. The final Bach transcription is the mighty Bach/Busoni Toccata and Fugue in D minor, a work requiring exceptional keyboard virtuosity and contrapuntal mastery. The second half celebrates the music of Chopin, ending with his fiery ‘Heroic’ Polonaise.
