The meteoric success and sold-out concert halls of the British pianist Freddy Kempf is no surprise to those who have heard him play. Critics rave about his ‘fearsome technique unleashing cascades of notes … his exquisite, rich languid melodies and his gift for lyricism’.
In 1998 Freddy Kempf was the toast of the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition. His performance was ‘an event of seismic proportions … the piano sounded as if transformed into a giant carillon pealing forth huge, descending clusters of sound’.
The rapturous adulation of the Russian public has never waned, with Kempf returning regularly for recitals and concerts including international tours with the St Petersburg and Moscow Philharmonics.
Freddy Kempf regularly performs with the world’s leading orchestras and has collaborated with conductors such as Petrenko, Chailly and Gergiev. The beautiful concert program includes Nikolai Kapustin’s classical jazzy style Concert Études, Chopin’s magnificent Op 10 Études and Rachmaninov’s technically demanding Études-Tableaux.
