Franz Schubert OctetAlfred Schnittke Concerto Grosso No 1
We welcome back one of the world’s greatest violinists to the Conservatorium stage, Alexander Sitkovetsky. With a ‘gun on every chair’ the Schubert Octet promises to be a defining performance of this masterful work, followed by the equally monumental first Concerto Grosso by Russian composer Alfred Schnittke. Watch the visually artistically composed score come to life on the stage wall while the two solo violins and pianist/harpsichordist are put through their virtuoso paces in this rarely heard, exciting masterpiece. Joining Sitkovetsky in the solo roles are young virtuoso violinist Harry Bennetts and pianist Daniel de Borah, with a string orchestra of Ensemble Q and highly talented mentees, conducted by Umberto Clerici.
