A program of works composed in a 34 year period before and after the world wars, Appalachian Spring includes well-known works by Nielsen and Copland, mixed with two relatively unknown English gems - the stunningly beautiful piano quartet by Frank Bridge, and a short but extraordinary quartet by Elizabeth Maconchy.
