Based on the Shakespeare classic, Much Ado About Nothing, Hector Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict is a  comic opera involving two very different pairs of lovers- the first, Claudio and Héro, are traditionally tender and loving, and the other, Béatrice and Bénédict, completely the opposite. The friction between
this pair create a timeless tale of secrets, lies, humour and mistaken identity. Set to Berlioz’s lush and romantic score, and conducted by Johannes Fritszch, this is an opera that the whole family will enjoy.
