Opera Double Bill
Enjoy a double of French one-act operas, including Maurice Ravel's fantasy L'enfant et les sortileges (The Boy and the Magic) and Debussy's L'enfant prodigue (The Prodigal Son). Set to a libretto by legendary French writer Colette, The Boy and the Magic tells the story of what happens when a bad-tempered child has too many tantrums, and the furniture in his room magically comes to life.
Debussy's adaptation of the famous Biblical parable tells the story of the son, Azael, turning his back on his mother and brother in search of excitement and the riches of the world. See these two French operas in this special double billing.
