Piers Lane’s sold-out 2010 Chopin Nocturnes by Candlelight recital beautifully evoked the intimate atmosphere of the Parisian salons of the nineteenth century. In a candlelit stage setting, Piers Lane the poet-pianist will charm the audience with these beautiful love-poems. These exquisite nocturnes with their heavenly melodies include the most famous of all, the serene and the tender E flat major and the ravishingly beautiful F sharp major.
The first half of the program includes delightful Schubert Waltzes, Brahms' lovely Four Piano Pieces Op 119 and Beethoven’s penultimate sonata, the glorious Op 110.
Piers Lane has a busy international concert career and is Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music.SCHUBERT - Selection of German Waltzes, Ländler and Sentimental WaltzesBRAHMS - Four Piano Pieces, Op. 119BEETHOVEN - Beethoven Sonata No. 31 in A flat major, Op. 110CHOPIN - Nocturnes by Candlelight, Op. 72 No. 1 in E minor Op. posth in C minor Op. 9 No. 1 in B flat minor, No. 2 in E flat major Op. 9 No. 3 in B major Op. 15 No. 1 in F major, No. 2 in F sharp major Op. 15 No. 3 in G minor Op. 27 No. 1 in C sharp minor, No. 2 in D flat major
