Venues - State Library of Queensland


The State Library of Queensland is a part of The Cultural Centre at South Bank. Recently renovated, the Library hosts a relaxed leisure and learning centre with a state-of-the-art reference section and space to showcase unique heritage collections.

Open - Daily 10.00am to 5.00pm (until 8.00pm, Monday to Thursday).
Close - Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.

BusBus - from city - Departs from Blue stop in Adelaide Street; Orange Stop in Ann Street; Kangaroo A and B stops underneath the Myer Centre; William Street opposite the Treasury Building.

TrainTrain - South Brisbane Station is located opposite QPAC in Grey Street.


FerryCityCat - A CityCat terminal is located adjacent to QPAC at South Bank.


TaxiTaxi - An undercover taxi set-down and pick-up area is provided at the Stage Door of QPAC.

Venue Profile
The State Library of Queensland has a number of rooms, space and auditoriums where events are held.

Training Room - General Admission
The Training Room accommodates up to 20 people at bench-style desks. Each place has a computer terminal. Access to the venue is via the Knowledge Walk on Level 1.

Auditorium 1 - General Admission
Auditorium 1 seats 264 people on raked theatre-style seating. Access to the venue is via the Knowledge Walk balcony on Level 2.

Auditorium 2 - General Admission
Auditorium 2 seats 105 people on raked theatre-style seating. Access to the venue is via the Knowledge Walk balcony on Level 2.

Bank of Queensland Heritage Collections Learning Room - General Admission
The Bank of Queensland Heritage Collections Learning Room is a small lecture / study room seating up to 50 people. Seating is arranged around fixed bench-style desks. Access to the venue is via the Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery off the Level 4 Knowledge Walk.

Fox Family White Gloves Room - General Admission
The Fox Family White Gloves Room is a small lecture / study room seating up to 55 people. Room set-up is flexible with a combination of fixed and moveable seating and desks. Access to the venue is via the Level 4 Knowledge Walk.

Red Box - General Admission
The Red Box is a small events space seating up to 50 people on raked bench seating. Access to the venue is through the State Reference Library on either Level 2 or 3, with Level 2 being the main entry point.
