After two sold-out seasons, Piers Lane continues his Chopin Odyssey with his popular and much loved waltzes, perhaps the brightest jewels in the crown.
The waltzes are among the best known and loved of Chopin’s works and have been recorded extensively. The poignant live recording of Dinu Lipatti’s final recital is particularly beautiful.
Piers Lane’s musical insight and special affinity for Chopin allow him to explore the very essence of the composer and reveal the unique freshness and charm of these exquisite salon pieces.
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Debussy, the program includes some of his pianistic gems, including Reflets dans l’eau (Reflections in the Water), one of the miracles of musical impressionism. The concert ends with Liszt’s Venezia e Napoli, which conjures up images of Neapolitan song and dance.
Piers Lane has a busy international concert career and is Artistic Director of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
